Magnolia Snowflake Angel Card

This little angel is the Magnolia Star Tilada from the Merry Little Christmas collection. I wanted her clothes to match the icy blue shades I think of with snowflakes so I used Copic colors BG0000, BG10, B91 and C01.

Supplies: The background is a beautiful winter line from the Little Yellow Bicycle. I used the Snowy Window and the Winter Plaid paper along with teal and brown Bazzill cardstock. Also in the background is a dry embossed sheet of white paper with the Sizzix snowflake folder.  I inked lightly over the top with distress ink so the snowflake pattern would pop. I also used several K & Company Layered Snowflake Accents, Wired Snowflake ribbon from Michaels, Imaginecence jewels, Star Dust stickles, deco art Glamour Dust and a couple snowflake jewels that I had in my stash.

Christmas Elf Shadow Box Display

I love the way this new project came out. It’s a Santa's Christmas toy factory themed shadow box display that I made for my Christmas decorations that has lots of patterns and sparkle. My inspiration for this project is all the little Christmas Elf images that I’ve colored using my Copic markers. I used brown cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Ink and brown paint on the frame and added lots of sparkle with Stickles (Silver, Star Dust and Platinum).  I colored up several crystal dots and Tim Holtz embellishments with the same Copic marker colors I used on the elves. I loved the cute candy cane stripe ribbon. Many of the images have been raised up with pop dots. The tree is wrapped with gold floss and I added a star charm to the top. The paper is mostly patterns from the Echo Park Season’s Greetings line and the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium Collection.

Christmas Jiggy Card

This cute little guy is the Happy X-Mas Jiggy image from Dragons Lair Designs for the new Design Team call. I colored him up with my Copics and then added some texture by creating a doted scale looking pattern with my blender and doing a little gray fine line detailing on the packages.

The card is made with the Coredinations Medow and Mantis green cardstock and the Bo Bunny Wasabi Dot. I also added in a little DecoArt Glamour Dust with my Quickie Glue pen. I used a Sissix embossing folder to add the alligator skin pattern to the white paper and finished him off with some ribbon and embellishments.

Simple Christmas Cottage Card

This quick and simple card was made with a Christmas cottage image that I found on a clipart site online. I used a new technique to shade in the cottage walls by dotting in the colors instead of brushing them on. I used Copic Markers C3, YR14 and E35 to make the dots and then blended the colors slightly with E33. I then used the same effect to darken in the ground under the cottage with C3 and C1 and then blended them out with C0. I liked the effect in both place. When I try this style again in the future, I will attempt to do it with lighter and darker markers to create better shadows while also filling it with this textural pattern.  The image will look different if you use the dot markers in a different order. Play around to see what patterns you like and feel free to ask me any questions.

The card itself was made with a beautiful green snowflake pattern from the Season’s Greetings line by Echo Park Paper and a few scraps from my supplies. The glitter was added by simply brushing the edges of the roof with my Quiky Glue Pen and then sprinkling a little Deco Art Glamour Dust over the image. Brush off the extra glitter and let it dry for just a few minutes before it set. Overall, I decided to keep this card simple because I actually mailed the card out for Christmas this year.

Purple Wee Fairy Card

I love this card. It is one of my all time favorite images and favorite colors. It also has the honor of being my first completed card featuring a Copic Marker colored image.  I used one of the Wee Fairy stamps by Sylvia Zet and made the card with scraps from my collection. The flowers in the corner are a digital flower image I printed and also colored using Copic Markers. The blue inked edge is done with the Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink and the little gems have been added using my Imaginisce I-Rock tool.

A New Blog

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you’re body doesn’t know how to sleep. After many years of insomnia, I often give up trying and just fill my time with other things. My favorite? Putting in a good movie, lighting a pleasant fire in the fire place, heating up a hot cup of herbal tea and pulling out a fun craft project. Some of my best work has been done at 3am in the morning. I have decided to start posting photos of my favorite creations and maybe slip in a few great tips.

The photo I used as the header on this blog is one of my favorite images. I do not know where it came from or who created it, but I'm more than willing to assign credit and give thanks if anybody knows.
